On Apr. 22, 2011, the chief metallurgist Knyazev and principal researcher Tsymbulov of Russian Norilsk Nickel Research Institute came to CINF for a 3hour technical exchange. The contents of technical exchange included the specific work contents and scoping of Wanrong nickel smelting project jointly undertaken by CINF and Norilsk; the direction and specific contents of technical cooperation and the problems required specialized study in the next step.
During the technical exchange, based on the honesty and mutual trust, both sides shared the advanced experience and innovative idea in respect of the technical development, project design and the actual production, preliminarily discussed oxygenenriched sideblown bath smelting technical (Valukov process ) details for coppercontaining residue, laterite nickel ore, municipal sludge and sulphide lead ore treatment, and exchanged views mainly on development and application of continuous fuming furnace and Valukov converter.
The technical exchange not only enhanced CINF’s confidence in further research and application on oxygenenriched sideblown smelting technology, but also provided new idea, basic theory and practical basis for the technology development direction and application field expansion to point out the direction for the key of next step research in this technology.
